Weather topic
We have been collecting information about our weather this week.
Have you checked the temperature outside? We have looked at the thermometer it was -2 outside yesterday and today.
It has been very cold and frosty.
We looked at the weather in different countries and found out that it is hot in places like Auckland, New Zealand because it is in the southern hemisphere and it is summertime there.
Weather around the World
We have started our new topic about weather around the world. We have discussed where people go on holiday and what the weather could be like there.
Today we painted pictures of holiday places.

Christmas

I hope you have all had a great Christmas Day. I look forward to hearing all about it when we are back at school.
Friday 2nd December
Remember all Year 3 are being Victorian children on Friday 2nd December.
Please try and come to school dressed as a Victorian child to make our day as authentic as possible.
Boys – wear a cotton shirt, a waist coat, a neckerchief , long or short trousers and a flat cap.
Girls- wear a dress or long skirt and top, a white pinafore or apron over the dress, a mop cap or headscarf and a shawl.
The outfit can simply be a shirt and neckerchief for boys and a dress and shawl for girls
You can have ragged dirty clothes like a poor Victorian or smart clothes like a wealthy Victorian.
We will be doing different Victorian activities on the day.
Adventure Stories
Our literacy topic is adventure stories, we have been reading ‘The Julian Stories’ and ‘Flat Stanley’
We have found out about similes and synonyms.
Can you find similes in other stories?
We are making our own Flat Stanley models and thinking about what adventures they may have.
Blackpool Victorian Time Line
While we have been looking at Victorian Britain, we have talked about how Blackpool developed into a seaside resort.
We sorted out events into a time line.
Do you know when Blackpool first got gas lighting or when Victoria Pier was opened?
Multiplication tables
We have been learning our 3 and 4 times tables.
We have also looked at our 2,5 and 10 times tables.
We know our 2′s are all even and end in 2,4,6,8,or 0.
We know our 10′s ends in 0 and our 5′s ends in 5 or 0.

Victorians
Our topic this term is the Victorians.
We will be finding out about what life was like for children, looking at inventions and the lives of rich and poor people.
All year 3 are going on a trip to the Judges Lodgings in Lancaster, we are going on 20th September.
